There is a big misunderstanding and incorrect assumption about transition expertise that somehow it automatically comes with training credentials, following compliance regulations, or being a Fiduciary. This is flat-out not true.

The reason this matters is major life events are the primary reason why advisors are hired and fired; these are life altering events that shape a client’s life going forward. For decades these events have been seen as highly desirable money-in-motion events not requiring much training or attention on the human side. What is missed is the life-in-motion, the client’s human experience to change. Transitions is what drives their behavior and decisions. When the focus is shifted to supporting the life- in-motion, the money-in-motion usually follows, and stays.

This series is about the human side of life transitions.

We will cover a few insights and changes any advisor can make to enhance their work with clients in any stage of transition: preparing for a major event, managing the flood of details when the event is happening, as well as guidance through the adjustment phase after the event.
